positive about disabled people

PROFESSIONALS

The Fairway Champion Model of Service

Fairway supports young adults with additional support needs in three ways.
Firstly, we invite other young people to become volunteer peer mentor educators to raise the young adult’s awareness and expectation to having more in their lives, whilst supporting them to develop their social skills. Secondly, our professional facilitators are working in the background supporting, coaching, advising, advocating, and researching opportunities that are both meaningful and fulfilling to the young adults needs. Finally, with the help and encouragement of Facilitators, young adults build their own networks of support - friendship circles.

Here at Fairway, we believe that the success of the project is the combination of all of these approaches, which provide highly positive, individual outcomes for young people and their families.

The replication of this approach across Scotland, through the Fairway Champion Project will enable many more disabled and disadvantaged people to benefit from the Fairway approach. We further believe that the collaboration of the Fairway Champion Project with external organisations will extend and develop the model itself.
