DO YOU NEED A TRAVEL PASS?

With a free travel pass and new single-decker and double-decker buses designed to be accessible to disabled people, including wheelchair users, travelling on your own or with a companion is possible!

Fairway can help you to apply for your National Entitlement Card, which may allow you free or discounted travel. Local councils offer eligible disabled people in their area, free local bus travel on ANY local bus service and scheduled long distance coach services in Scotland throughout the day; there is no charge for the bus pass.

If you have additional support needs and are in receipt of benefits, you may be eligible.

I receive the higher rate of the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance
I receive the higher/middle rate of the care component of Disability Living Allowance
I receive Attendance Allowance
I live in a care or residential home or hospital and require 24 hour supervision
I hold a Disabled Persons Parking Badge (Blue Badge)
I am profoundly or severely deaf
I have been told not to drive on medical grounds and I am over 17 years of age
I have been told not to drive on medical grounds and I am under 17 years of age
I suffer from a mental illness, learning disability or personality disorder
I am terminally ill
I suffer from a progressively degenerative disorder
I have suffered a loss of limbs
I am visually impaired

You may also be entitled to companion entitlement, if your mobility is such that you require to be accompanied when travelling, you can apply for a National Entitlement Card containing the companion entitlement to allow a companion to travel free of charge with you for the same journey by bus.

If you do not qualify for free bus travel, you may still qualify for the National Entitlement Card for young people aged 11 to 26. The card has been created by the Scottish Government, Young Scot, your local council, and many other organisations working together so that it's easier for you to use their services across Scotland.

The card will enable young people to get cheaper transport on buses, trains, and ferries. If you are 16, 17 or 18 then you are entitled to:

• One-third off adult single fares on buses all over Scotland
• A free Scottish Youth Railcard, cutting up to one-third off train fares in Scotland
• Two free return ferry journeys to the mainland if you live on an island.

Applying for your National Entitlement Card

You can get application forms from Post Offices, Local Authorities, and SPT Travel Centres.

You will need a recent passport-type colour photograph, proof of age or disability, and proof of your current address. Your Fairway Facilitator can help you with the application form and gathering all the proof you need to apply.
