DO YOU WANT A JOB?
Are you unsure or frightened of taking up employment?
Don’t know what you want to do, and worry if you are able to carry out the job?
Here at the Fairway Project, Facilitators will work with you to discover what skills and talents you may already have and build upon these. Your Facilitator will help you to find out what type of work suits you best. By working with you, your facilitator will get to know your likes and dislikes, wishes and dreams. It is then their job to go out into your community and match your abilities and interests with a placement of your choice.
If you are lacking in self-esteem, or have very low confidence, a Fairway Facilitator will work with you to help improve and develop these areas. If you require further support, your Facilitator can refer you to a Personal Development Course, which assists you in developing ways of moving forward.
If you have difficulties with reading, writing, and counting, your Facilitator can refer you to a literacy support provider like the Learning Shop in South Ayrshire, and accompany you for one-to-one tuition support.

If you would like to try a work placement, then your Facilitator will help you to decide on a suitable place of work. Your Facilitator will introduce you to the employer and the placement and after a chat with the employer, you will then decide if you would like to go ahead with the placement.
Your Fairway Facilitator will accompany you to the placement each time you go, and stay with you, supporting you in your placement, this would be up to 4 hours per week. You would build up the hours of work once your confidence and stamina has grown. After a time when you feel confident, you work independently, or perhaps move onto permanent employment.
Work placements allow you to experience different types of work, helping you to find out what you enjoy and suits you best. You will also be able to get references from your work placements that will help when you apply for the job of your choice.
Fairway Facilitators will help you build the confidence and self-esteem required to move forward with your life and help you reach your full potential.
The next step from here would be to access one of Hansel's supported employment programmes - WORKSTEP or WORK Preparation. These are Jobcentre Plus programmes available to people with additional support needs to help them into jobs. Hansel have been running these programmes in the west of Scotland for several years and have a wealth of experience helping people find and keep work.
